This is another black and white minimilistic where for the first time I tried a dirty pour.

Even though I only used two colours (Black and White) this mixing of the two thanks to the dirty pour are my favourite parts of this one.

This was my first time painting with ink, and, I must say, I really like it! Actually, I love it!

In this one, I was attempting to get a very thin background blue colour, which as you can see at the top of this one, I managed to achieve. It was also a great experiment in learning about how to use it when painting. For example, one of the most memorable things from that experiment, was when I had the jar open in my hands but got distracted and ended up spilling it all over my pants!Thankfully I was able to get it all our by rushing to wash them.

The more I paint, the more I see things just appearing or popping out in ways that I never expec`ted and sometime what I create surprises me. This is one of those.

I had been thinking about someone a lot the past little while, and then, BOOM!

Support Overflow

Support Overflow

This was the piece that I created using my new acrylic markers. Using the markers allowed me to create some nice thick, crisp lines.

Since I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and had my life tuned upside down in 2013, i have been very lucky when it comes to getting support to help me get through all of this. Even though I live out here on the west coast and my family is back east, I still feel quite close to my family, as they have been able to be here at times in my life where I really needed it. Combine that with the support from the MS Society and I've definitely had a great amount of help and support in dealing with such a rapid and drastic change in my life. I recognize that support, and asm very greatful for all it.

I see my thoughts (the different colours) as the grey thought on the left hand side, which starts to slowly move right as it gets pressed. However, as it gets processed , the grey thought is getting all mixed up with other new thought and distractions, which happens to meso often. As the thought flows through the thought space, that original grey thought, after trying to sneak around and under others to get through and yet, the thought is now so different and depressing, but that's all that's left.

So, in this painting, I knew what I wanted to pain from the very beginning. I'd had the idea while thinking about what to get my mom for her birthday.

This was a big departure from my usual style of bright, colourful lines. For this one i'd just bought a fan brush but had yet to use it.

In the end I was very happy and proud of it, that I packaged it up and shipped it to my mom for her birthday.

That summer, the summer of 2013, I had discovered a cannabinoid called CBD, which helped me with my spasming muscle pain all through out my back and next.  Now, you're probably thinking to yourself that prescription pain meds would help, and they do... eventually. By simply doing one dab of some high CBD shatter, the pain get turned way down.

I had found a safe, medical marijuana dispensary called Eden, where I could both learn a ton more about the medical benefits of marijuana while at the same time having a clean and safe source to get the producks I needed.

This set of 5 was inspired by how Multiple Sclerosis affects 4 women for every man affected. This was one of the first facts that I had learned after being told that the symptoms I had been experiencing could possibly be indicators for MS. It would still take 2 MRIs and a couple of weeks to get confirmation that "Yes Neil, you have multiple sclerosis". Just writing this is making me realize just how much MS has changed my life.

Look Up!

Look Up!

I was imaging standing at the virtual crossroads we call life. However, when looking up, it's very very hard to pick which road you should take, but standing down at the bottom it's difficult to ever properly assess them enough so that hopefully you end up with enough information to make a decision.

Sounds ideal, right? Once you finally get to the top though, you discover that there isn't any knowledge for anyone to stare, even though they have spend their whole lives looking for more information.

SOLD - This one was inspired a lot by @sabikeinsart and @michellearmas007 I had just bought a new pallet knife and wanted to try it out. I used only the knife in this one, which was my first time using a knife to paint with so much.

In the end, this was also one of the two first works I had ever sold. The day I delivered this painting to the man who bought it, I got home, went onto Facebook, and updated my Occupation to "Artist".

Door on a Ledge

Acrylic on canvas
 76.2cm x 76.2cm (30" x 30")

This painting reminds me of a person who ended up stealing over $2000 from me, and so this was more than appropriate. It's like the door on the ledge I was hoping to jump off. That's how much I was hurt by someone I had helped at such a time of need. He was homeless because he was having trouble in his relationship, and so I let him crash at mine for a while and we hung out. Well, in the end, he just ended up writing me a cheque that bounced, of course. I've yet to be paid back.

This was the first time that I had ever used medium so heavily in order to get the texture that I wanted. Then I used a pallet knife that was kind of shaped like a fork, so that I could get even more more  lines. In the end, this is probably one my favourites simply because of the texture.

I painted this last time I was in Auckland, New Zealand as a gift for my friend's daughter, who is such a little jewel. We played while I was there and had so much fun. She had a bunch of art in her room, and it just inspired me to paint. I had returned to Auckland go see Skrillex at the Our House festival.

This was my first painting since elementary school, and was inspired by LJ Throstle 's "Teddy". We talked quite a bit at the show where I learned about her history. During that conversation that I decided to try painting myself. Lucy helped me find a lesson to attend and learn more about art, painting and try it myself.
